SaaS Analytics Dashboard

Real-time analytics dashboard serving 2,000+ B2B customers with sub-second query performance.

Project Overview

Designed and built a real-time analytics dashboard for a B2B SaaS company, providing customers with instant visibility into their operational metrics, custom report builders, and automated alerting — all delivered through a responsive, data-rich interface.

The Challenge

The client’s existing dashboard was built on a monolithic architecture that couldn’t keep up with growing data volumes. Query times had ballooned to 30+ seconds for common reports, causing customer churn. The system needed to handle concurrent access from 2,000+ customers, each with unique data sets ranging from thousands to millions of rows, while delivering sub-second response times.

Our Solution

We re-architected the analytics layer using a columnar data store optimized for read-heavy workloads. A materialized view system pre-computed common aggregations, while a smart caching layer served repeat queries instantly. The React frontend used virtualized tables and progressive data loading to handle large result sets without UI jank. A custom query builder gave customers the power to create ad-hoc reports without SQL knowledge.

The Results

Average query time dropped from 30 seconds to under 800ms — a 97% improvement. Customer satisfaction scores increased by 35%, and the churn rate attributed to dashboard performance dropped to near zero. The platform now reliably serves 2,000+ concurrent customers during peak hours.

The difference was night and day. Our customers went from complaining about load times to praising how fast and intuitive the dashboard is.
